When Maddie was first born I signed up for weekly newsletters that detail her physical development and motors skills in relation to her age each week. Here is a sample of the one that I received today:
"Another week, another amazing development! By this age your child's balance may have improved to the point where he can stand on his own -- at least for a little while. When will he take his first genuine steps (watch what this looks like in our animated guide) if he hasn't already? It could be tomorrow -- or two months from now. The age range for walking is huge: Most experts consider anything between nine and 18 months totally normal."
So what does it mean if she started taking steps at 7 months? It must mean that our child is not normal! Seriously, I don't give these things much cred, but it makes for a good laugh from time to time.
Now this next part of the article - well, they couldn't be more right about this:
"As your baby grows older and more independent, it's natural for your emotions to shift too. Many moms experience some he's-no-longer-a-baby-blues as that first birthday approaches."
For this, I am using the following coping method: DENIAL. DENIAL. DENIAL. (rinse & repeat)
