14 Weeks & 5 Days

It's official! It's no longer a secret - everyone knows. We started mailing out our "announcements" on Friday, September 5, 2008 and we started getting phone calls the following Monday. It has been so much fun to share our excitement with you!

Here are the latest updates, we went to the Doctor today for my monthly check-up. Mike and I got to hear the heartbeat again - 158 bpm! It's so incredible to hear that tiny heartbeat - and it beats so fast. The Dr. said that everything looks great. AND we got to schedule our big ultrasound. On Friday, October 31 - that's right, on Halloween, we'll find out if we are having a boy or a girl. Trick or Treat! It's just crazy - time is just flying by!!

I've been feeling better lately. The nausea is not gone completely - but it's definitely less often. I can finally eat a full meal without losing interest or getting sick. That's a big change for me. My energy is back - which is great! I've even been able to cook again lately - which Mike is really excited about. He's been the chef around here since July, so he deserves a break. I've felt good enough to get some projects done around the house. We actually spent all day Sunday cleaning out the closets in what is currently the office, but will be the nursery soon. It was fun to put the baby stuff that Mike has already bought in the closet. It made things feel so much more real. Here's a picture of our finished project:

So - I have to tell you that Mike is quite the excited Dad-to-be. He's been on a buying spree pretty much since we found out we were PG. Then, when my Mom came to visit, they both went crazy in Babies-R-Us. Here's a little peak into Baby M's closet (because it's too cute not to share):

One of Mike's first purchases.

Some more bibs Mike bought- these are my favorites of course.

Swaddle Blankets and the tiniest, softest socks. Baby M will certainly be warm & cozy.

And the bath, not just any bath - a "spa & shower." Quite fitting for the "man of many showers," no?

We picked up this little number in San Francisco. It's the official uniform of the "Alcatraz Swim Team," and the slogan reads "Swim for your life!"

After furniture market is over, we plan to move the furniture out of the office and start painting the nursery. Very exciting! We can't wait. I want to get as much done as possible while I still have some energy. We'll keep you posted with more photos!

In other news, Mike is getting ready to leave on Sunday for Baltimore. He'll be gone for 19 days, but this is his last trip this year - so I'm excited that he'll be home for a while after this.

  1. Our trick or treat surprise will definitely give us the edge for the shopping spree that all grandparents so eagerly await.Note that this grandmother wouldn't mind being called "glammy". after all I am way too young to be a grandma!! After all when I am old and shrivelled. I will be "glamorous" in my grand child's eyes when you have explain Glammy's name!!
