So you should seriously send my husband a sympathy card because the poor guy has no idea what is in store for him when he gets back from Baltimore. I have some serious decorating ideas for the nursery that are going to involve some serious man hours. I mean I'm a first time Mom - so I'm allowed to dream big right? (I can hear those snickers....)
HGTV has a website called rate my space that allows homeowners to post pictures of their "Do-It-Yourself" projects, and then people can rate how well they like them. They have an entire portion dedicated to nurseries. If you haven't already noticed, my middle name is now spelled "O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D." It's a dangerous habit I now have, drooling over other people's dreamy nurseries. We really don't want to drop a small fortune on the nursery, but there are some really cute ideas on this site that I think we can re-create with an awesome painting job and if we shop smart. I like to think I'm pretty thrifty, I own a sewing machine and let's face it - I am in serious need of a new hobby or project to direct all of this energy. We're torn over whether to do a gender neutral nursery or not. We hope to move in the next 3-4 years - so it may not matter down the road. And I think that once we know the sex, it's going to be hard not to decorate for a little boy or a little girl. If it's a boy - I'm thinking blue will definitely be the primary color. If it's a girl - I'm thinking pinks and greens - something shabby chic. I don't know that we really want to do a "theme" nursery like so many of the bedding sets that are out there. I have access to lots of fabrics - so we may pick and choose and create our own look.
Anyway - it would take me forever to load all of these pictures - so I'm just going to post the links to the rooms I like. These will obviously be easily narrowed down once we find out what we are having. Each option has multiple photos - so don't forget to look at each. Let me know which ones you like:
Option #1 - Blue & Brown Nursery:

Feeling sorry for Mike yet??? There are so many more that I love - but I won't bombard you with tons of links. If you find any that you like - send me the links. Although, I have to worn you - be careful of the "Baby Crack" - an addiction to all things baby. It's definitely a hard habit to kick!

Chrissy, you are too funny. For all Mike has put his sisters through all these years, he deserves nothing more than to be your slave to make you happy. I love it! I love options 1, 3 & 5...even though I think you are having a girl. I'm not a huge fan of overdoing pink for girls...believe me, Meredith and I had our fair share forced on us. Now we avoid pink as much as possible! Whatever you do, it will be amazing, I know it. And don't ever, EVER feel bad for what Mike will have to do. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with melissa not in favor of pink stripe.Like #1 for boy and shabby chic for girl. Either could end up being ok for guest room oroffice color for re-sale. Sorry about all the pink for the sisters but melissa had no hair and bonnets didn't help so every thing was pink. The room was pink because I never had one that color. So sorry girls. I guess they're traumatized forever. See how important room color is. If I only knew then what I know now!! Ha-HA!!! If you need help let us know after all that's what aunts and glammies do well!!
ReplyDeleteChrissy, my first choice is #3, Baby Noah's room, but with your talent and creativity, I know that you will put your own spin on things so that even Dr. Seuss would be proud. Keep it fun.
